Alma PIXEL® Erbium Superficial Fractional Resurfacing

Superficial fractional ablative laser resurfacing (2940nm) that represents a new option to perform skin resurfacing on aged and photo-damaged skin: it's a safe and effective treatment with no patient downtime, and no gel or consumables required.

This precision laser creates thousands of microscopic perforations, which stimulate new collagen to grow. The new collagen improves the skin's texture and tone to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. The skin around each of these perforations remains intact, which

allows the skin's top layer to heal from the edge of these tiny holes very rapidly.

PIXEL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do Pixel Treatments work?
A: A preprogrammed laser beam passes through the patented PIXEL micro optic lens and penetrates the skin. It creates an ablative and thermal effect at the pixel area - a micro injury without disturbing the surrounding tissue. Those micro injured areas start the process of healing as collagen remodels, skin tightens and the skin texture improves.

Q: Why Pixel 2940 for fractional ablative skin resurfacing?
A: The Pixel 2940nm Er:YAG Module provides the right Pixel wavelength for the right clinical indication. It is a safe and effective treatment for fractional ablative skin resurfacing on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. Designed to treat aged and photo-damaged skin, the Pixel 2940 improves the quality and texture of the dermis while it stimulates collagen regeneration.

Q: What are the recommended applications?
A: Skin resurfacing, acne scarring, photo damaged skin, laser peeling, rhytids and fine lines all can be treated with the Pixel 2940.

Q: What can the patient expect?
A: Patients will find the skin around the treatment area feeling firmer and tighter, with a smoother surface texture. Their face will look like they have a sunburn, which can last up to four days. They will not need analgesics or pain medication with the Pixel 2940, and they can return to work immediately after treatment.

Q: How does Photofacial IPL for photorejuvenation work?
A: Photorejuvenation uses a multi frequency (NON-ablative) laser pulsed on top of the skin to change the molecular structure and the appearance of aging skin below the surface, giving it a tighter and younger look. Since IPL is a broad spectrum of wavelengths in one laser, it also stimulates the growth of collagen under the skin. Although tightening will be felt the day of treatment, the skin will actually improve more over time, up to six months after the last treatment.

Laser SKIN rejuvenation & FRACTIONAL RESURFACING

Fine lines and wrinkles will fade, and pores will reduce in size. Patients with facial veins should see immediate results the day of treatment. The veins are shut down, which means they will turn from red to gray, and then slowly fade away. Sun spots will turn to small dark dots, which fall off within days. Patients with rosacea or red cheeks should see results after the first treatment. The skin will start to regain its normal color, however the full series of treatments must be completed or it will return.

Q: What conditions can be treated?
A: IPL (photo-rejuvenation) will reduce wrinkles, reduce pore size, remove sun spots (face, chest, neck, hands etc...), remove sun damage, remove facial veins, reduce spider veins (legs etc), reduce skin redness/rose colored cheeks (rosacea).

Q: Are patients satisfied with the results of this gentler, more delicate approach?
A: IPL Skin Treatments are recognized for a very high measure of patient satisfaction. Patients are very pleased with treatment results because the process treats the full face, neck, chest or hands, rather than addressing a single isolated area or imperfection. With a series of treatments, IPL technology can help restore a more youthful appearance without patient downtime or a prolonged recovery necessary after other types of treatments.

Q: Some pigmented lesions have to be removed surgically, as they are potentially harmful. Can they be treated by IPL instead?
A: Technically, it is possible to treat such pigmented lesions with IPL and diminish their brown color.  However, doing so does not affect the pre-malignant cells; it only obscures them and delays the diagnosis.  It is therefore essential prior to IPL treatment of any suspect pigmented lesion to consult a dermatologist.

Q: Can hairy pigmented lesions be treated?
A: Yes, it is possible to treat this type of lesion with IPL, due to the versatility of filters.  IPL with longer filters can penetrate deeper than IPL with short filters. Thus, a shorter filter may be used to treat the superficial (epidermal) pigmented lesion and take care of the excessive pigment, whereas a longer filter may be applied for the hair removal.
